CW10residents and Middlewich Town Council are determined to stand together and fight Cheshire County Council's plans for a rubbish tip at Kinderton Lodge, which could be passed in December.
They started sending information about the plans to residents on Saturday and aim to visit every house in the town to raise awareness by the end of October.
Andy Bailey, CW10residents spokesman, said: "We've been sending information about the landfill, sample letters with lots of examples of objections people may use and a petition for people to send in.
"It's a two-pronged attack of letters and petitions and we need as many people in the town as possible to do this."
He added: "If the people of the town don't act now we are going to get it and it would be a crying shame if that happened."
County councillor Mark Dickson, who has been campaigning against the plans for five years, said: "Everything is gaining momentum and the decision will be made sometime towards the end of this year.
"All the groups that care about the welfare of Middlewich are coming together for one last push to raise awareness."
He added: "We're doing everything we can to improve recycling in Middlewich and people are becoming aware of this need - there's a commitment to waste recycling here so the proposals to put the site close to a residential area are a kick in the teeth."
