POLICE are urging businesses to be on their guard after reports of fake £20 notes being used in Middlewich shops.
A man in his mid-20s targeted a number of shops on Wheelock Street with the counterfeit notes at about 1pm on September 27.
Robin Curry, Congleton and Vale Royal Business Watch officer, said: "Please be on the lookout for these counterfeit notes, be suspicious and don't be afraid to look at them closely."
He added: "If in doubt don't accept it."
Police described the man as having short, light coloured hair, being of slim build and wearing a khaki top and blue jeans.
Several males have also tried to use fake notes on Warmingham Lane in the past two weeks. Anyone with any information should contact the Middlewich CAT team on 0845 458 6382.
