A FAMILY of six living in a three-bedroom house in Middlewich are appealing for help in getting re-homed.
Town Mayor Chalky White said that the family, who do not wish to be named because they are too embarrassed about their circumstances, have spent two years on Dane Housing's waiting list without any success.
The parents of the family, who have three children and are all sharing a house belonging to a grandparent, have been forced to sleep on the floor for the past two years because of the lack of space.
They have been offered an appropriate house in Sandbach but want to stay in Middlewich so their nine-year-old son can stay at his school.
Chalky said: "To be forced to sleep on the floor is a disgusting situation in the 21st century.
"To do this for two nights is bad enough, let alone two years."
Chalky hopes his intervention will help the family find a home.
Dane Housing was unavailable for comment as the Guardian went to press last night, Tuesday.
