AN INITIATIVE to clean up one of Winsford's most picturesque areas is being given a helping hand from businesses in the town.
The scheme to cut down on crime and anti-social behaviour in Weaver Parkway has been hailed as a huge success and police are delighted with the help they have received from businesses.
Robin Curry, Business Watch officer, said: "I have approached a nearby supermarket regarding the overspill from the the recycling bins which was being used to start fires and has caused problems with broken glass, trolleys and the sale of petrol to youths for off road motorcycles.
"The manager was happy to work with the police to make sure petrol was not sold to youths and posters and leaflets were left at the filling station explaining the law to parents and youths.
"This is a good example of joined up working where all agencies pool resources and talents to find the best way of reducing crime and disorder and take the necessary action.
"The Weaver Parkway is a superb local asset and we will work tirelessly to make sure it stays a pleasant place for people to enjoy."
