A WINSFORD teenager who was jailed for 10 months after he was convicted of breaching his Anti-Social Behaviour Order has made an unsuccessful appeal against his sentence.

Kyle Colin Bannaghan, 18, of Gladstone Street, appealed against the sentence in Chester Crown Court on Friday but the court decided to uphold the original decision made in Northwich Youth Court on September 14.

Insp Brian Roberts, from Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "I am pleased the court has supported the original sentence.

"It is important that Mr Bannaghan understands that if he engages in this level of criminality he will receive a significant custodial sentence.

"The residents of Winsford also deserve a break from his behaviour."

When the original sentence was passed John Argust, chairman of the bench, told Bannaghan that the fact the offence had been committed so close to a previous order was an aggravating factor in the length of his sentence.

Bannaghan was described as a 'one man crime wave' when he was convicted three weeks ago and the news that he had been sent to prison was welcomed by police and community leaders.

Bannaghan, who has a previous conviction for assaulting a groundsman in Over Recreation Ground in April last year, will now serve two concurrent 10-month detention and training orders.
