AN EMPLOYEE at a Tarporley store has been fined £80 after Trading Standards carried out a test purchase of alcohol with a 15-year-old boy.

Trading Standards carried out the joint operation with the police Community Action Team (CAT) and will now work with the licensee of the store before deciding the next course of action.

Sue Kee McParlain, from Trading Standards, said: "It was disappointing to see that one of the premises served an underage customer, however further test purchases did not result in any sales so that's reassuring.

"We all have a responsibility to deal with problems in the communities we live in and this type of operation ensures both the police and the council are doing their bit."

Insp Phillip Hodgson who oversees the CAT team, said: "Residents can rest assured this type of work will continue to ensure problems are quickly identified and tackled not just on the underage drinking front but all types of alcohol related problems."
