RESIDENTS in Castle can rest assured their crime needs will be addressed as a new bobby on the beat takes to the streets.

Community Action Team PC Graham Ramsey has taken responsibility for the area following 11 years' service with Cheshire Constabulary. The former Royal Navy officer said he wants the public to tell him about their concerns.

He added: "The Community Action Team really wants to make a difference and is committed to listening to residents and working with them to make their communities better places to live.

"The more support we have in identifying problems and the people who are responsible, the more effective we can be in delivering results.

"I'm doing my best to get out and about meeting people.

"I've picked on a few issues and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into sorting them out."

PC Ramsey, who spent time in Bosnia and the Gulf while he was in the forces, said his top priority is tackling youth nuisance problems in Greenbank Lane, Greenbank railway station and Verdin Park.

He added: "I know from chatting to people in the community this is something they have concerns about. I also know just a handful of young people are causing these problems and they will be proactively targeted.

"Rowdy, loutish behaviour is not acceptable and the police and their partners will be doing everything in their power to ensure that message is driven home.

"We don't want to ruin young people's fun, nor do we want to have to take out anti-social behaviour orders.

"However there are laws in relation to issues such as underage drinking and using threatening behaviour and we will not hesitate to use the powers at our disposal."
