TOP bands are helping to launch a new support group, CO Awareness, with an alternative cabaret called 'Be Aware', writes Barbara Jordan.
They will be performing at The Brindley on Tuesday, October 18, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
Runcorn widow Lynn Griffiths founded the support group after experiencing the devastating effect of long term chronic carbon monoxide poisoning.
"I don't want anyone else to go through what we've suffered," said mother-of-four Lynn, 46, of Sheridan Way, Sandymoor.
Lynn and her young family were exposed to carbon monoxide for almost 11 years and - now six years on - they are still feeling the ill effects.
"The aim of CO Awareness is to support those who have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, their family and friends.
"We also aim to try and educate the public and medical staff on how to prevent these completely avoidable deaths and injuries."
The concert will feature seven different acts including The Heroes, a mixed ability pop group from Manchester.
Acclaimed songwriter and entertainer Darren Poyzer will perform a rare set with Jamie Parkes on violin and Kevin Farrell on guitar.
Halton based singer songwriter Greg Oldfield, twin girl singers The Feredays from Derby, and Halton based band The Loves will be on stage.
Songwriters Cat and Ste, from Glasschild, will team up for an acoustic set.
Cheshire based songwriter Sheena Rowley has penned a song for Co-Awareness.
Tickets priced £5 are available from The Brindley on 0151-907 8360.
