CUSTOMS officers are looking at possible tax evasion offences against a Congleton man.
PC Carol Rayner from Congleton Police said the man was found to be selling tobacco and cigarettes at Congleton Market.
A large quantity of tobacco products were found following a search of the man's vehicle.
These items had wrappings which suggested they had originated elsewhere than the UK.
The products were seized and Customs and Excise informed.
"It's important to make the community aware anyone selling products for which the appropriate tax duty has not been paid commits an offence, as does the person purchasing such items, knowing or believing such duty has not been paid," PC Rayner told the Congleton Guardian.
