YOUNG bookworms who took part in Middlewich Library's summer reading challenge have been rewarded for rising to the occasion.
Around 80 children took part in the reading event during the summer holidays, reading more than 480 books within the six-week break.
The aim of the challenge, organised by Cheshire County Council, was to encourage youngsters to expand their literary horizons. Senior library assistant Rhona Hallwood said the children had great fun.
