CAR cruisers who gather in large numbers at car parks are now being urged to use a legally-run event.
Businessman Simon Gleave says he organises a legal cruise on his own land in Winwick - so car enthusiasts do not need to meet on Monday's at Sainsbury's in Church Street wherecruisers have been gathering to show off their souped-up motors.
"It's been happening on Monday in Winwick for about five years," said Mr Gleave.
He charges people £1 to use his land opposite the B&Q and Burger King. There is also a specified area for 'burn-outs', where cars are revved but held back until their tyres fail.
He also runs 'Car Warz' on the first Monday of every month, where people meet up to compare vehicle modifications.
The normal Monday night meets attract 100 to 150 cars, while Car Warz has brought in around 500.
Mr Gleave said few people live nearby and he has no problem with residents.
"The police approve of it. They said there's no problem at all," he said.
