THE search is on to find the budding politicians of the future following the launch of Vale Royal Borough Council's Mini Mayor competition.
The winner will become mayor for the day and their classmates will be invited to attend a mini mayor making ceremony at Wyvern House.
The contest is the centrepiece of Local Democracy week, which runs from Monday, October 17, until Friday, October 21.
To enter children should write a poem or essay, of no more than 300 words, describing what they would do if they were mayor for the day.
Pupils must be attending a primary school in Vale Royal, although they do not have to be from the borough.
Entries should include the child's name, age, primary school and a contact telephone number, and be sent to Selina Harris, civic affairs officer, Wyvern House, The Drumber, Winsford, Cheshire, CW7 1AH, or email them to slharris@valeroyal.gov.uk.
Closing date is October 3 and the winner will be informed on October 10.
