to good use
A BIRCHWOOD student who scored top marks in her A-levels has been making the most of her summer break by helping homeless people abroad.
Former Priestley College student Sarah Raffel, from Armstrong Close, has just returned from France where she has been helping out at Emmaus, a charity for homeless people.
In total, Sarah spent a month of her free time working in Bayonne in the south of the country.
She helped out in the charity's clothes shop and worked with other volunteers from all over Europe.
She also stayed in a hostel for volunteers and took part in social events and excursions organised by the Emmaus community.
The former Newman High School pupil got a chance to put her recent A grade for French A2 to good use while she was over there.
Sarah also notched straight As in all of her other subjects, which included maths, English literature and politics, which allowed her to take up a place at University of Warwick, to study French and politics.
