A WEDDING day is meant to be memorable, but the guests of an Appleton couple were taken on a journey they will never forget.
Charlotte and Matthew Fitchett tied the knot at St Thomas's Church in Stockton Heath on Saturday, and wanted to do something a little bit different to celebrate their big day.
So the couple, of Waverley Avenue, roped in a narrow boat to take them and their 55 guests on a journey along Bridgewater Canal from Stockton Heath up to Thelwall and back again.
It was the first time on the canal for the bride, although the groom has taken a trip into the water before now!
The newly named Mrs Fitchett said: "It was a friend's idea to go on the boat trip.
"We live by the canal but have never been on it so we thought, why not?
"All the guests loved it and thought it was a brilliant idea, we wanted something to remember, so I think we have got that.
"We have only been planning the wedding for about nine months, so it was all a bit last minute really, but it was a brilliant part of an amazing day!"
