APPLETON amateur golfer Ed Wilkinson will be bidding for the chance to play in a world final when he competes for the Audi Quattro Cup UK Golf title next week.
The 37-year-old Warrington Golf Club member will partner the Wirral's Graham Garner-Jones in the 18-pair UK event at Turnberry in Scotland on Tuesday and Wednesday.
And should Wilkinson, who has a handicap of five, and his partner finish in the top two in the stableford competition at the famous Open Championship course, they will earn themselves a trip to the formidable Scottsdale course in America to take on at least 30 other countries in the World Final.
Wilkinson qualified for the UK Final after finishing second in the qualifying event at Wychwood Golf Club near Crewe and third in the regional final at Mottram Hall Golf Club in Wilmslow.
