GOLFER Andrew Baguley lost all three of his matches but was still on the winning side in the club professionals' version of the Ryder Cup.
Baguley, who is the professional at Leigh Golf Club in Culcheth, represented Great Britain and Ireland in the foursomes on Friday and Saturday before taking part in the singles on Sunday in the PGA Cup at the K Club in Ireland.
But together with Cornwall's Tony Nash, he was beaten 5 and 3 in Saturday's foursomes by American duo Tim Thelen and Bob Sowards.
He was then defeated by one hole by Massachusetts' Chip Johnson in a titanic single battle despite being 2-up after 10 holes.
Johnson levelled the tie at the 14th and Baguley's bogey at the last consigned him to defeat, but Great Britain and Ireland still gained a 15-11 victory to win the trophy for the first time since 1984.
