WARRINGTON Soccer League Division Four outfit Burtonwood Albion were the top scorers in the first round of the Guardian Cup after hammering Division Three side Fife Rangers 9-1, while Spartak won 6-2 at Penketh United after extra time.
Birchwood were hammered 7-1 by Act R Sports, Grange Safeway lost 6-0 at Vulcan and Mid-Cheshire League side Rylands also suffered an early exit as they lost 3-0 at Whiston Cross.
Eagle Sports went out 3-2 on penalties to Premier Division side Haydock, while Matthiola edged past Windle LC 2-1 in their rematch.
In the first round of the Reg Oliver Trophy, Orford Blackburne Arms Reserves pulled off a shock to beat Rainhill Town Reserves 3-1, but Moore Reserves went out with a 3-2 defeat against Whiston Cross' thirds despite goals from Matt Hands and Matt O'Dwyer.
Monk Sports Reserves defeated St Michaels Reserves 5-1, while Rainhill's third team edged past a youthful Fearnheard Reserves outfit 2-0 and Burtonwood Reserves defeated Blackbrook Reserves 2-1.
In Division Two, Orford Blackburne Arms put a dent in Greenalls' good start to the season by beating them 5-2.
