CROWN green bowls' Carlsberg Classic starts at Pierpoints on Sunday at 6.30pm after having attracted a top class field.
Last year's winner Ian Nicholson is in action on Sunday, as is the recent winner of the King and Queen floodlight bowls competition, Damian Morrison.
Kevin Shaw, Chris Ward and the 2001 winner Neil Simpson head the out-of-town challenge on Tuesday with Lee Lawton, Paul Bailey and Andy Ferris taking centre stage on Wednesday.
Next Thursday night's field includes Warrington hopes Tommy Johnstone, Kevin Wainwright Carl Armitage and Charlie Bebbington.
The final night's play, which will be contested by the last eight, will be held on October 9 at 4.30pm.
