A VAGRANT has been arrested for breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order within hours of it being served.
Cyril Maher, aged 45, of no fixed abode, was issued with a two-year ASBO by Warrington magistrates last Monday.
The order prohibited him from drinking or being found in possession of alcohol in any public place. But within hours police found him in the town with alcohol and he was arrested and charged.
He appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Thursday and was sentenced to four weeks in custody.
PC Mark Smith, from the Warrington Community Action Team, said: "ASBOs are taken very seriously by police and the courts and, once again, we have taken positive action against Maher to protect members of the community.
"If Maher breaches the order again in the future we will not hesitate in taking the appropriate action."
