A WINSFORD man has admitted punching a 14-year-old boy in the face when he appeared in court on Thursday.
David Anthony McGlynn, 38, of Newbury Avenue, pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and assaulting a police officer during the same incident on September 13.
The incident took place at an address in Winsford at around 10.20pm when the defendant got into an argument with the teenager before striking him in the face.
The 14-year-old suffered a black eye following the assault.
Police officers then arrived at the scene of the incident and McGlynn became aggressive towards them and pushed PC Claire Ellis into a door.
He was then apprehended with the use of CS spray and taken to Northwich Police Station.
Keith Jones, prosecuting, said: "There was no need for him to use that kind of force and in that way."
Geoff Fletcher, defending, told the court that McGlynn, who had drank three cans of strong lager, became aggressive towards police because they told him he was under arrest. He said: "When he was told he was being arrested he just lashed out."
Chairman of the bench Keith Oakes adjourned proceedings for pre-sentence reports to be made and indicated McGlynn would be given a community-based penalty.
McGlynn will be sentenced on October 13 and was granted unconditional bail.
