A SCHEME to revitalise an area of Winsford which has been affected by crime and anti-social behaviour is being hailed a success.
There has been a multi-agency effort to identify and address problems in Weaver Valley Country Park and positive results are already being seen.
Representatives from residents' associations in Winsford have held meetings with park rangers and other agencies, including police, to look at increasing interest in what is seen as one of the most picturesque areas of the town.
Mike Kennedy, chairman of Winsford Residents' Federation, said: "Mathew Hood, community support officer, coordinated the meetings which were called for by the associations.
"Tony Deyn, from Wharton Parish Residents' Association, first highlighted the issue of anti-social behaviour and litter to me some time ago and suggested we could bring people together to discuss any concerns we may have.
"I believe a lot has been achieved since we first met with the input of Mathew Hood, police Water Watch officer Mark Watkins and business liaison officer Robin Curry."
Mike added: "I am pleased to say that actions taken by the police and Robin Curry regarding sleeping rough and environmental protection from dumping may now be paying dividends.
"The rangers are doing an excellent job with the support of Cheshire County Council and we are now looking at taking groups of children and adults to the area for walks and workshops."
