POLICE officers have welcomed the news that a Winsford teenager who made the lives of residents a misery has been sent to prison.
Thomas Halford, 16, was given a six-month custodial sentence on Wednesday after he breached his anti-social behaviour order.
Insp Brian Roberts, from Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "I welcome the sentence for Thomas Halford.
"He has been given a custodial sentence following a number of breaches of his ASBO.
"The process gives individuals the opportunity to stop causing misery to others and if they fail to take that opportunity to stop they must accept that they will ultimately face prison."
Insp Roberts is now warning other people who have been issued with ASBOs of the consequences should they breach the order.
He said: "We have others with ASBOs who realise the seriousness of the order.
"Thomas clearly thought he could continue to behave in this unacceptable way and he is now facing the consequences of his actions."
