AMBITIOUS £6m plans to expand Runcorn's Asda store and create 80 new jobs is set to start in the new year, the World can exclusively reveal.
The company had hoped to give the 15-year-old development a facelift earlier this year but the scheme was delayed.
The store was told to revise its plans last April because Halton Council wasn't happy with their proposed road and pedestrian access.
Asda has now agreed to pay towards improving existing walkways and providing an extra bus stop.
The store will remain open throughout the revamp due to be completed by May 2006.
The 1,568 sq m of additional floorspace will increase the unit to 8,292 sq m. An extra 526 car park spaces will be created.
