Knutsford Hockey Club's ladies first team started their league campaign away at Crewe Vagrants with a solid 0-3 victory.

From the start Knutsford pressed, keeping Crewe contained in their own half with precisely timed passing from Allan, Orchard and Locke.

This creative passing and excellent movement allowed Paton to skilfully run into space feeding the forwards Cheshire and Phoenix.

This pressure resulted in a well worked short corner taken by Locke with combined play by Cheshire and Allan and smoothly finished by Orchard to put Knutsford 0-1 up after 10 minutes.

They made it 0-2 minutes later after a Crewe attack was dismantled by Crabtree and Paterson who sent Paton driving through.

Cheshire was put though on goal and with a delightful cross, player of the match Orchard fired home her second.

Knutsford pressed forward, tactically attacking down the left which Phoenix exploited, Locke finishing this fine move giving them a 0-3 half-time lead which they fully deserved.

Knutsford started the second half by dictating a slower pace as Crewe attempted to fight back. Hogg, Horton, Norton and Torrie ensured that the defensive performance was as comprehensive as the attack, which was supported by Burton who was making her debut in goal.

Vagrants became increasingly frustrated when Locke played one of her trademark dummies, which lead to Crewe's busy goalkeeper guarding a shot around the post.

Knutsford entertain Chester on Saturday.
