WIDNES continued their excellent start to the season with a hard fought victory against one of the strongest teams in Lancashire, Vale of Lune.
Widnes fell behind to an early try but responded straight away with Danny Harrison touching down from a flowing back's move.
Vale restored the lead with a try and a goal.
Widnes hit back just before half time,
Semple charged down a clearance kick to score in the corner, which left Widnes trailing 12-10 at the break.
Vale extended their lead after the break with a fine try.
The Wids hit back with three penalty goals from Morgan to take the lead.
The Wids were under intense pressure for long periods, but the magnificent defence from McMuldroch, Harrison, Barton, Forrest, Wilcox and Giles kept the Wids' line intact.
Widnes sealed the victory with Semple going over in the corner after good work from McKee.
The game was excellently handled by local ref Mike Davies.

THE home side scored three breakaway tries from King, Whitfield and Jon Witter. In the second half Waterloo scored two tries from close range. Widnes then recovered their composure and the evergreen Graham Riley and Jon Witter scored two more tries to clinch the victory.

THE home side dominated the game for long periods with the forwards competing well at the breakdown, allowing the backs to enjoy plenty of possession.
Try scorers were Wills and Clare with conversions by McLindon (2) plus a drop goal from the same player.
