NEWTON lost at Wigan St Judes after enduring a nightmare opening period.
They fell 16-0 behind inside 20 minutes, although second rower Robert Leonard touched down before setting up another try for winger Kevin Prior to give Storm hope.
Another St Judes try put the game beyond Newton, but scrum half Will Koller scored pulled back two late tries.

NEWTON'S under 15s also had a disappointing start in their home defeat to Leyland Warriors.
Leyland went in 16 points ahead at half time, but Storm restored some pride after the interval with tries from Callum O'Neill, most improved player Ryan Sanderson and top tackler Adam Bridge.
Nathan Collinson took the player of the match award while the referee's player of the match went to Mike Hallet.

Burtonwood Bulldogs u7 16
A SPIRITED Newton side ran out of steam in the closing stages as they were beaten by Burtonwood Bulldogs.
Conor French took the player of the match award but two late tries ensured Burtonwood earned victory.
* Newton's under eights took part in a rugby league festival at the weekend and drew two of their three matches.
Garry Stanton scored as they drew 4-4 against Crosfields in their first game, Michael Carney then crossed as Newton lost 8-4 to Rylands, while Christopher Wynn scored two solo tries as the final match against Latchford finished 8-8. Jacob Hankey was named the top tackler of the tournament.
