CHILDREN in Burtonwood will soon be playing on new equipment after the parish council decided to fund it.
The village's councillors agreed to a £24,909.55 plus VAT multi-use play frame, which includes two slides, at its July meeting.
The equipment, that must be imported from the USA, was expected to arrive in the UK on September 21.
Work to install it on the Gorsey Lane playing area will begin soon afterwards.
Around £17,200 of the cost is being met from funding agreed with developers of the Elm Tree Gardens estate, with the reminder funded by Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council.
Clr Eddie Coop said: "A few things had gone missing from the play area, so we needed to re-do it.
"This extra money has enabled us to put something really good in there that can be used by children of different ages."
