A SUPERB performance was not enough to prevent Warrington from being knocked out of the Intermediate Cup.
Warrington fell behind in the opening stages, although James Shaw pulled a try back to give them hope. Winnington put the result beyond the doubt with two tries soon after the interval, but Shaw then ran 70 yards for the try of the game.
Warrington travel to the Isle of Man for a league clash with Vagabonds on Saturday.

WARRINGTON'S second team showed promise but ultimately lost. After the visitors had gone ahead, the outstanding Robin Smith barged his way over for a converted try that reduced the deficit to 13-7 at half time. Ward crossed after the interval but it was too late to salvage a result.

WARRINGTON'S third string conceded 24 points in a disastrous second half as they failed to get on the scoresheet. John Young was outstanding while Leon Bracegirdle and Jonathon Wilkins also impressed.

AN inexperienced Warrington made Eccles work hard for their win. Lee ran 60 yards for Warrington's first try, before Griffiths added another effort and man of the match Guest scored a magnificent 70-yard solo try.
