WARRINGTON bound winger Richie Barnett will be trying his best to thwart his new club if he is named in Hull's line-up for Saturday's play-off game at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Barnett, who figured on the left flank as Hull lost at home to Wolves on Friday, recently expressed his delight at agreeing a deal to join Warrington in 2006, but he knows he still has a job to do for his current club until this season is over.
Speaking to the Warrington Guardian, he said: "It's very important that I stay focused on Hull because it's a crucial game and I'll be trying my hardest to stop Warrington.
"It will be difficult because Warrington is a tough place to go, but we'll be working extra hard to make sure we prepare well and put last week's defeat right.
"Everyone is up for it and the loss was a bit of a wake-up call - Warrington played really well and were more enthusiastic than us, and that's something we've got to get right."
Barnett was reasonably happy with his performance on Friday in his first game back from a foot injury, but will have to wait and see if he is selected on Saturday with Motu Tony, Kirk Yeaman and Richard Horne back in the frame.
But he is glad that Warrington are Hull's play-off opponents and will be willing them on in the later rounds if he cannot get the better of them this weekend.
He said: "I'm glad to be playing against Warrington, because although I'm still at Hull and want to do well for them, I get the chance to show Paul Cullen what I can do.
"If Hull get knocked out I will definitely want Warrington to do well, because I think they deserve a chance.
"The big four have always been the ones to get to the Grand Final but with our Challenge Cup result this year it's been proven that other teams can beat them.
"Maybe we have paved the way for people to beat the big teams, because it just shows that if you play well on the day you will get your rewards."
