THE relative heights of horses and giraffes came into play during an argument over a plan to erect a new building in Stretton.
Paul Clarkson wants to build an equestrian centre at his home in Spark Hall Close.
But neighbours and the parish council have objected, citing concerns over increased traffic, increased sewage and the use of green belt land.
One neighbour, Charles Williams, told the borough council's Development Control Committee the planned building was 'big enough for giraffes'.
He added: "I have experience of horses and I know what I am talking about."
Mr Clarkson argued his plan had been carefully worked out with planning officers and is 2m shorter than originally envisaged.
Councillors voted to visit the site for themselves before making a final decision.
