THE devoted family of a boy who died in a traffic accident outside Asda last year has paid tribute to him close to what would have been his birthday, writes Nick Lakeman.
Mum Jackie and daughter Natasha wrote a heartfelt poem about Dylan Lines, who would have been nine on Monday.
It reads: "Birthday memories of a loving son and brother.
"As we wish you happy birthday the tears begin to flow, how much we love and miss you no-one will ever know.
"Each time we see your picture you seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry I'm only sleeping, I'm never far away.
"Have a happy birthday my little man.
"Love you always and forever, Mum and Natasha."
The family, pictured here at a Halloween party just days before Dylan's death last November, have painfully started to rebuild their lives. Dylan, a Manchester United fan and Simms Cross pupil, died after he ran into Milton Road from between two parked Asda lorries, colliding with a bus.
A coroner ruled his death was an accident but told an inquest she would be writing to Asda and Halton Council with concerns about the traffic system by the supermarket. This has since been changed.
Experienced Asda lorry driver Peter John Hussey, of Southport, pleaded guilty to causing an unnecessary obstruction at magistrates two weeks ago and received a £100 fine.
