A WIDNES man has slammed Halton Council after being told he has to keep his rubbish in carrier bags until they supply him with a new green bin.
George Kirby, of Standish Court, Ditton, has been without a green bin since last Wednesday when it got stuck in the back of the dustbin wagon while being emptied.
Mr Kirby said: "I put my green bin out full of rubbish and the bin man came and emptied it, but it got stuck in the van and he wouldn't get it out.
"I pay my council tax and if that goes towards recycling then why can't I get a new bin?
"I explained what had happened to the Town Hall and they told me to keep the rubbish in carrier bags.
"They won't even take it in bin bags.
"The bin man's not due until September 28 so now I've got to keep these carrier bags full of rubbish in my house until then.
"They told me to leave the carrier bags outside on the day they come round but it wouldn't surprise me if they refused to take them."
A council spokesman said: "Mr Kirby requested a new green bin on September 14 and he's been asked to use carrier bags in the meantime.
"There is a two-week window for delivery so he is due to get one next week."
