A MAN accused of murdering his father more than a year ago has appeared in court.
Michael Gooley is charged with murdering Alan Gooley, a former Middlewich supermarket employee, following an incident at his home in Winsford in August 2004.
The 22-year-old appeared at Chester Crown Court on Monday where the court discussed various legal issues surrounding the case.
The case is currently listed for trial on March 6 but there has been some concern during previous hearings that he may be unfit to stand trial.
The recorder of Chester Judge Elgin Edwards listed the case for a hearing in the week starting October 17.
Tesco warehouse employee Alan Gooley, 40, died of multiple stab wounds in Leighton Hospital shortly after the alleged incident at his home on Bradbury Road.
Michael Gooley, of Newport Road in Stafford, was remanded in custody.
