A MIDDLEWICH mum who started a petition after a bus stop was erected outside her home has been told that it will be removed.

Trish O'Reilly, of Warmingham Lane, contacted the Guardian in July after Cheshire County Council replaced the concrete bus shelter near The Turnpike pub with a new stop outside her house.

Trish, 33, was worried that by making buses stop on the narrow and busy section between her home and Tesco Express there would be a serious accident.

So she submitted a petition with more than 200 signatures to Middlewich Town Council and asked if it could be forwarded to the county council.

And at Monday night's town council meeting she was delighted to hear from county councillor Mark Dickson that the bus stop was going to be relocated.

He explained that the original bus stop had been moved because there had been a complaint about anti-social behaviour.

He said: "I'm here to say that we are going to move the bus stop but we want to make sure that we are moving it to somewhere more acceptable.

"One area that has been suggested has been on Cross Lane."

Clr Dickson said the council would consult with residents to find a suitable location and town councillors Mike Parsons, Fred Smith and Jim Basford agreed to take part in the process.

Speaking to the Guardian following the meeting, Trish said: "I'm pleased that something has been done about it but I am concerned about where they will move it to. I suppose that will all come out in the consultation.

"It's good that something is going to happen because it would only be a matter of time before there was a serious accident."
