A MIDDLEWICH residents' association is fed up with the town being used as a dumping ground and is demanding the county council makes a stand.
Andy Bailey and Mike Hunter, from CW10residents, have contacted Cheshire county councillor Mark Dickson after a group of travellers left land off Pochin Way covered in household and human waste.
Andy Bailey claims rubbish is building up on a daily basis and that as well as a stripped out caravan there have been reports of human excrement along Pochin Way. He said: "Who ultimately pays for the clean up of this area and the removal of things such as dumped caravans? We do, as residents, out of our Council Tax."
Andy wants to see no parking signs placed along Pochin Way and for fines to be enforced for dumping.
He said: "It is about time our county councillors, whose responsibility it is for the upkeep of Pochin Way, pull their finger out and stop this happening in the future.
"Surely if they had measures in place such as making it illegal to park in this area and fines for dumping, it would cut out having to apply to the courts for their removal."
Clr Dickson said: "Regardless of who is responsible, this is unacceptable and we have to step up in terms of policing the problem.
"I will be happy to listen to suggestions about how we might tackle this problem and will be investigating whether signage is a viable option."
