on woman

A WINSFORD woman has been handed a four-month suspended prison sentence after threatening a man in the street with a kitchen knife.

Donna Marie Cross, 34, of Cheviot Court, admitted possession of a dangerous weapon and using threatening language at Northwich Magistrates' Court yesterday, Tuesday.

Prosecuting, Karen Morgan-Reed said Cross had banged on the door of Gary Campbell's home in the early hours of June 4.

She shouted at him, pushed and poked him before walking to a neighbour's house across the street.

Miss Morgan-Reed added that when Campbell went over to find out what was going on, Cross emerged with a 5in kitchen knife and lunged towards him.

Matthew Brennan, defending, said Cross had been drinking heavily on the night in question and it had acted as a wake up call for her to turn her life around. He added that she was determined to deal with her problems for her children's sake.

Magistrates imposed the suspended sentence on Cross and gave her a 12-month supervision order.

She was also banned from every pub in Winsford for six months and ordered to report to a probation officer in January for a review of her progress.
