WORK has begun on a new link road project as part of the Castlefields Regeneration Masterplan.
The project will see a section of the Astmoor Busway link between Castlefields Avenue East and the main busway replaced with a new stretch of highway, to provide direct access for all traffic to the proposed new local centre and existing community facilities.
Cllr Rob Polhill, Halton Council's executive board member for development, planning and transportation, said: "This is another major step forward in the regeneration of Castlefields. The new road will provide a vital link between the developing parts of the estate and those already rejuvenated by our partners in the project".
The stretch of road has been closed while work is carried out and is expected to reopen on Wednesday, October 7.
