A NORTHWICH man has been banned from driving for three years and fined £750 after being convicted of driving while over the legal limit.
Mark Millington, 22, of Royle Street, was tried in his absence on July 21 and sentenced by magistrates at Northwich yesterday, Tuesday.
Karen Morgan-Reed, prosecuting, told the court that Millington and a female had left the scene of a road accident in Winnington, on February 27.
She added that a police officer stopped the pair walking along the road and arrested Millington after smelling alcohol on his breath.
He was charged later at Northwich police station following a reading of 57mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.
Magistrates told Millington he would be disqualified from driving for three years and fined him £450 for not entering a prompt guilty plea.
He was also fined £50 for not turning up for his trial and ordered to pay £250 court costs.
