SET to chase 299 by Alderley Edge, Oulton Park set about the challenge with relish and even without Andy Robinson cruised home with 15 overs to spare.

Steve Selwood led the charge with a majestic 121 to put on 120 for the first wicket with Cheshire star Nathan Dumelow (53).

A second wicket stand of 103 with Paul Berry (85no) was enough to make the result a certainty.

There was also good late support from John Davies (17) as Oulton ended on 299-4 to win by six wickets.

Earlier Andrew Day (68) and former Lancashire player Mark Currie (52) had ensured a challenging total.

But it was an excellent 41no from last man Andy James that excited the spectators.

Oulton chose not to use their pace attack due to the wet outfield and this looked sensible when Alderley's Simon Elliot was taken to hospital with knee damage.

The league's leading wicket keeper Mike Bentham picked up four more victims and left arm spinner Chris Jones grabbed 5-90 as Alderley reached 298-9.

l A THRILLING run chase at Little Budworth ended with Oulton Park 2nds' Mark Johnson hitting a six in the last over of the match to win against Warrington.

Warrington batted first and made 216-2, leaving Oulton a challenging run chase.

Johnny Kettle (67), Steve Yates (33) and Neil Moss (22) all chipped in as Oulton reached 217-6 to finish third in Division One.
