Tatton Eagles U9 3
Barnton B U9 3
BOTH sides gave their all in a pulsating, high tempo game packed with skill, creativity, craft and honest endeavour.
The daring Eagles maintained their discipline and formation throughout the game and this enabled them to play some attractive football.
The standard of performance was such that the fixture produced some moments of real class.
Early in the first-half, following excellent defensive play from tough-tackling Charlie Nanda, the ball was passed to Richard Mason who threaded a perfectly-weighted pass for the advancing Sam Proctor to latch onto.
Sam then blasted the ball against the post.
Fortunately quick witted and opportunistic Tim Sanders had been following the ball forward and comfortably smashed the rebound into the roof of the net to score a second goal in as many games.
Robbie Allatt pulled off a stunning save.
The visitors' main strike threat played a superb, chip ball over Robbie's head, but somehow the keeper managed to leap and with outstretched hand, was just able to clip the ball over the crossbar, to the astonishment of the spectators.
Tom Shepherd and Jacob Potts played with great energy and flair whilst man of the match Greg McLoughlin performed like a Trojan.
Greg protected his defensive line to great effect and also scored a goal that kept the Eagles in the contest.
Second-half substitute Sam Holah also scored a particularly well-taken goal in a game that finished with honours even.
