NORTHWICH RUFC kick started their season with an emphatic victory over Burnage in the first round of the Intermediate Cup at Moss Farm.
Northwich started poorly and slack tackling allowed former Northwich player Chris Moore to score between the sticks.
Andy Sullivan converted and the home side were seven points down with only five minutes on the clock.
Northwich winger Andy Chubb, who was on kicking duty in place of the injured Chris Dale, missed two easy penalties before veteran back row player Paul Johnson crashed over.
Gaz Davies missed the conversion but 10 minutes later set up a break for centre Steve Campbell who nearly made the line and it was again Paul Johnson who picked up and forced himself over.
Chubb missed the difficult conversion and despite Northwich continuing to dominate, Burnage drew level through a Sullivan penalty on half time.
Northwich completely dominated the second half. Gaz Davies kicked a penalty and shortly after the restart the in form Adam Bown scored between the posts.
Davies converted to give Northwich a two score cushion at 20-10.
Two further tries came from Graham Robinson and Andy Allen with Davies converting Robinson's effort to give Northwich a 32-10 win.
This Saturday Northwich return to league action with a visit to Aspull, (3pm), and they will be hoping to convert cup form to a league victory.
