Matthiola 2
Beechwood 2
MATTHIOLA playedmost of the game with only 10 men and at times nine after a couple of injuries.
Beechwood, as expected, dominated for long periods and went ahead through Kev Morris.
Beechwood failed to capitalise on their numerous chances and were made to pay when a penalty claim was awarded.
The second half saw much the same and once again Beechwood took the lead thanks to a Paul Gleave strike.
Matthiola never gave in and continued to battle.
They worked hard and created chances of their own finally making one count with a long-range strike that flew into the top corner.
Both sides had late chances with Matthiola having a string of late corners brilliantly handled by Si Wright the Beechwood keeper.
