Bridge Timber 3 Brewer FC 2
THE game was only four minutes old when Brewer took the lead.
Three minutes later Richie Jones chased a lost cause and closed down the Brewer keeper before he cleared and the ball landed at Karl Thomas's feet 20 yards out.
He hammered home to give Bridge the equaliser.
Karl Thomas then had the chance to give Timber the lead when he impressively chested down and volleyed goalwards only for his effort to hit the bar.
In the 38th minute Ronnie McGowan was pushed in the back in the Brewer area and Karl Thomas stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to give Timber the lead.
Brewer were awarded a penalty and Brewer's Lee Maddock gave them the equaliser they deserved.
Bridge then got a grip of the game and created four chances that could have won them the game.
Vaughan set up Richie Jones, whose shot was well saved, and Dave Pickford's first touch was to run at the Brewer defence and after coolly taking it round the keeper just fired wide.
Gary Jacques's pinpoint free kick was headed on by captain Gary Ellison for Ged Wells to bring another good save from the Brewer keeper before Lee Evan's neat through ball to Pickford again brought a fine save.
Timber kept up the pressure with Richie Jones coming close a couple of times.
With time running out for any team to grab the winner, Gary Jacques controlled the ball in midfield and 'megged' Tony Hives to Kev Morris, who squared to Ged Wells, and he exquisitely provided the winner from 30 yards with an angled drive that found the top corner.
Timber's man of the match was Gary Ellison.
