NEARLY three weeks after Sandbach student Steven Cook went missing in Malia, Crete, 20,000 flyers have been handed out to fans at his beloved Liverpool FC's home ground.
Steven's brother Chris and a team of Steven's mates pounded the streets of Anfield before and after the Liverpool v Manchester United match handing out flyers to football fans and sticking posters up in more than 18 of the local pubs.
The Oakfield Pub on Oakfield Road, close to the ground, kindly agreed to let its premises be used as a base during the distribution as Steve is a regular visitor there when he attends home matches.
Chris Cook, Steven's brother, said: "We took well over 20,000 leaflets to the game and nearly all of them were handed out. I know from handing them out that a good many had already heard about Steve, or had already taken a leaflet at a pub, or on their way down to the ground. Several stopped and chatted about things they are doing to help - one family stopped and told me that their daughter has extended her stay in Malia to help look for Steve.
"You never know what clue we might find to Steve's whereabouts as a result of Sunday. I know the family would like to thank everyone that helped to organise and hand out the leaflets - we are doing every bit that we can to bring Steve home. Even if we nothing comes directly from the leaflet campaign at least we once again got some more TV exposure for Steve's story".
Chris and the rest of the Cook family are still appealing for help and if anyone has information please visit www.findstevencook.co.uk or phone Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
