WARRINGTON'S favourite charity opened its doors to the public at the weekend to mark its 20th anniversary.
From small and humble beginnings, St Rocco's Hospice , on Lockton Lane, Bewsey, has flourished over the past two decades thanks in no small part to the support of people in the town, who have taken the charity to their hearts.
And Sunday's open day was the perfect opportunity for hospice supporters to see exactly where their donations go and how they are spent.
The event was a way of demonstrating how the hospice has developed over the years and to show visitors just what it offers to patients.
By far the most popular attraction of the day was a chance to enjoy some of the therapies on offer in the day unit, which include head, foot and hand massages.
Among the visitors that dropped into the hospice were families of former patients, business people, volunteers and potential patients.
Hospice matron Beth Eccles said: "St Rocco's was delighted to open its doors to visitors and show our services and facilities first hand.
"On offer were relaxation hand or foot massages, demonstrations of pottery and crafts and examples of some of the special diets we cater for, as well as the opportunity to tour some of the rooms, chapel and beautiful courtyard garden.
"The family support team, occupational therapist and physiotherapist gave an insight into their work within the hospice.
"The day was busy, with a constant flow of interested visitors, many of whom had questions to ask of our staff, who were available to answer their concerns or queries or just to listen them and lend an ear."
