TWO town centre churches are joining together to host a supper for the people of Warrington.
As part of a nationwide event, Holy Trinity Church on Market Gate and Warrington Baptist Church, are inviting townsfolk for supper.
On Wednesday, September 28, staff from 25 town centre businesses will attend the event as Holy Trinity joins with 7,000 churches nationwide.
A spokesman said: "The suppers are designed to introduce people to the Alpha course, which provides an opportunity to explore the meaning of life.
"The course is free and open to anyone."
The Alpha courses form the basis of the UK's biggest annual Christian advertising initiative. The course is supported by all Christian denominations and runs for 10 weekly sessions.
Guests will enjoy a buffet and drinks as well as listening to live jazz music while the Rev James Lochhead will deliver a short talk Christianity: Boring, untrue and irrelevant?
There will also be an opportunity to see a new cinema commercial that will be screened at cinemas across the country - including the UCI in Westbrook.
The courses are aimed at people who do not attend church regularly and have been launched to halt the decline in the number of churchgoers.
Indeed, here in Warrington, a number of churches have merged due to falling numbers. A planning application is due to be heard soon to see if a new home can be found for the congregation of Our Lady's Church in Latchford and St Augustine's in Westy.
