NEIGHBOURHOOD police are failing to live up to their own standards, according to new figures.

The results, published in the latest Cheshire Constabulary annual report, highlight the shortfall in community policing.

Only 66 per cent of people were satisfied with police response when reporting a violent crime, almost 25 per cent less than the target.

While 88 per cent of victims of road smashes were happy with police assistance at the scene, four per cent below par.

In responding to incidents of racism, the force fell 18 per cent beneath their 85 per cent target.

Officers passed their 85 per cent target for burglary.
