A TERRIFIED household is living in fear after two attacks by a crazed youth ended in injury and thousands of pounds of damage.

The family, who wish to remain anonymous, have described how the attacks on their house in Hall Drive, Alsager, two Saturday nights running have put them through 'hell'.

And now they face an anxious wait to see if the offender returns.

Their nightmare began on September 3 when they were woken at 2.30am by loud banging and shouts of 'let me in' and 'I want to get you'.

One family member said: "It was very frightening and seemed to go on forever," as the youth kicked the door and banged on the windows for half an hour.

When their son opened a window to shout back the attacker punched him in the face and slammed the window shut on his father's arm causing extensive bruising, which required treatment at Leighton Hospital.

An assault on their two cars then caused £4,500 of damage as three other youths watched.

Police arrived after the attacker had fled and carried out a detailed forensic search of the property.

The following Saturday night a youth, thought to be the same offender, pulled up in a dark car and threw a beer bottle at the house, damaging some panelling, before looking in the windows.

The victim added: "We are asking 'why us?' and don't know why we've been targeted".

Police described the incidents as 'isolated' as violent crime is very unusual in the area.

Detective Sergeant Chris Pyatt said: "This looks like a complete one off - Alsager is not usually a violent town."

Police have now increased patrols in the area and DS Pyatt said: "We are continuing with a number of lines of enquiry and hope to have the offender in custody soon."

The youth is described as very slim, 5ft 8ins with dark cropped hair and an earring.
