RYLANDS rounded off their Manchester and District Cricket League home campaign with a fine six-wicket win against Newton Heath.
Ade Timson took three early wickets but Newton Heath recovered and two substantial partnerships steered them to 191 for 9.
Rylands got off to a fine start in reply with openers Pete Knowles and Richard Buck putting on 72 for the first wicket before Ian Mason, 52, played an anchor role to take Rylands home with nearly seven overs to spare.
Meanwhile, Rylands are hoping that second team stalwart Albert McMaster will be hitting many more runs for them in forthcoming seasons despite recently celebrating his 65th birthday.
McMaster has been at the club as a player and official for 44 years and has scored more than 15,000 runs.
