GRAPPENHALL'S slim chance of promotion to Cheshire County Cricket League Division One came to an abrupt halt at Burnage.
After rising to third spot, Grappenhall lost by six wickets at Burnage.
They mustered only 114 with Richard Green scoring highest with 35 runs.
Burnage needed only 16 overs to knock off the required runs while Richard Hudd claimed 4 wickets for 26.
The second team banked on a mix of rich experience and youthful enthusiasm to beat Burnage by nine runs.
Neil Muttock and Dean Langhorn registered a 57-run opening partnership that put Grappers on their way to 194 for 5, with Muttock finally falling at 102.
In reply, Burnage's aggressive approach put them nearer and nearer to Grappenhall's total despite losing wickets.
But Sam Guest and Muttock took scalps as Burnage's last five wickets fell for only seven runs.
